Landscapes
2018
photograph, inkjet print and drawing (pencil and ink) on paper
8 x (30 x 19 cm)
Only a photograph of the perfection of nature has the right to violate the perfection of blank paper. After printing, I add, overlay or imitate by drawing. This can take a long time, even enough to cover the entire paper. I stop, however, when instead of a layer of inkjet ink, pastels, drawing ink or graphite on paper, I catch sight of a newly created landscape.

[…] The virtual landscapes created by Vodopija in recent years are in fact the realization of the idea of her inner world, i.e. a kind of interiors as indicated by the very name of the exhibition, and not exteriors so that our eyes can easily deceive us. An imagination, a thought, is the one that in its movement carries a message through the structure of memory, which at the same time shows itself to be multidimensional, and its dimensions are beyond the physically possible. Like memory, thought constantly changes its form, and form is the primary artistic problem. And this constant dynamic creates a reconfiguration of time and space, defines the imagination. Therefore, it is the dynamic of imagination that creates nature. (Vukmir, Janka. 1996, Dynamics of Imagination, Zagreb: Miroslav Kraljević Gallery)
